Welted Chevron Cowl                                               $5.00

A welt is a raised fabric contrasted with a smooth background.  In this project the garter stitch welts are forced into soft waves by the increases and decreases of the chevron stitch pattern.  This cowl design includes instruction for using different yarn weights and needle sizes as well as technique for continuous use of working yarn.  Knit in the round on circular needles, the number of cast on stitches and pattern repeats vary to achieve a consistently sized cowl regardless of yarn choice.  To accentuate the welts use a contrasting color yarn for the chevron stitch section.  Binding off in pattern maintains the angular chevron motif.  This project is a quick gift as well as a stash buster.
